Wells joins the company with more than 20 years of construction experience with a specialty in senior care construction.  Prior to joining Stevens Construction, Wells served as senior superintendent for construction management firm where he completed more than $400 million in commercial construction, including the 400,000-square-foot Terraces at Bonita Springs, a SantaFe Senior Living Community.

 

Wells will manage the onsite field supervision of commercial and health care projects, specifically handling inspections, safety meetings, daily job reports, cost reports and all tasks that are instrumental to the success of the project.

Stevens Construction earns Contractor of the Year for fifth year

Stevens Construction TeamStevens Construction Inc. earned four awards at the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) Industry Awards event on Oct. 17, including the highest honor of Contractor of the Year.

A panel of judges from Orlando named Stevens Construction Contractor of the Year based on criteria such as the company’s achievement of goals, client relations, professional certifications and community responsibilities.  This is the fifth year Stevens Construction has received this honor, the company won in 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2007.

Pursuing larger projects and diversifying project type were among Stevens Construction’s goals for 2014. The company completed one of its largest projects to date in 2014, The Oasis Club at ChampionsGate in Orlando and continued construction of Landmark Hospital in Naples, the company’s first free-standing hospital.  Prior to 2014, the majority of the company’s projects were in the healthcare industry, however in 2014, Stevens Construction had diversified project type to 57 percent healthcare and 43 percent commercial. Stevens Construction had achieved the goals they had set for 2014 and also increased gross revenue by 85 percent in 2014, earning a spot on the INC. Magazine 5000 list for the third year.

Stevens Construction won two Summit Awards for the major renovation of DeVoe Cadillac in Naples; best renovation and best commercial project in the $5M-$8M category. Stevens Construction completed an extensive renovation of DeVoe Cadillac’s existing showroom, resulting in a two-story, 37,677-square-foot, state-of-the-art Cadillac sales and showroom, which was completed while the dealership remained in operation.

Stevens Construction also earned a Summit Award in the $5-$8M division for the new construction of the Oasis Club and outdoor amenities project in the best clubhouse category.

Stevens Construction has earned 37 Summit Awards since the program began in 2006.

The Summit Awards program recognizes BIA members who have obtained an outstanding level of success and demonstrated superior professionalism in the commercial construction industry throughout the year. Stevens Construction Inc. wins best in 12 states at 2015 Aurora Awards

For the eighth year, Stevens Construction was presented with an Aurora Award at the Southeast Builder’s Conference. The Aurora Awards honor the best in construction in a 12-state region.  The company was also presented with a Grand Aurora Award, which recognizes the best project within an entire category.

In a ceremony held on July 18 in Orlando, Stevens Construction earned an Aurora Award in the commercial category for The Skytop View Rehabilitation Center in Clermont.  The 28,294-square-foot skilled nursing center features 30 beds and serves patients needing short-term rehabilitation.  To assist in the rehabilitation process, the facility features a large group therapy area, activity room, full kitchen and dining room.

The Stevens Construction team included project administrator, Denise Castaneda, and superintendent, Mike Garland.  Dave Jass was the architect of record.

Entries were judged on design, quality of construction, unusual constraints, cost savings techniques and outstanding features.

Stevens Construction completes Florida Hospital Carrollwood renovation

Stevens Construction has completed an interior renovation of the entire fifth floor at the Florida Hospital Carrollwood, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Located at 7171 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, Fla., the 17,579-square-foot project included interior demolition and construction of a new post-surgery unit on the hospital’s top floor. The new department consists of 25 private patient rooms, nurse stations and rehabilitation areas. The project occurred while the hospital remained in operation, requiring the utmost coordination with the hospital staff to ensure patient care and safety were never compromised.

The Stevens Construction team includes Alex Hunt-Branch as project manager and Sue Ziegenfus as project administrator. Burt Hill/Pollock Krieg Architects provided the design.

The project was licensed and inspected by the Agency for Healthcare Administration, which ensures regulatory compliance for healthcare facilities throughout Florida.

Stevens Construction Inc. Begins Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida

Stevens Construction Inc. has started construction on the Joint Implant Surgeons of Florida medical office for Drs. Edward Humbert, Dennis Sagini, Jon Kimball and John Fenning, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Stevens Construction Inc. Completes Animal Eye Doctors

Stevens Construction Inc. has completed construction on Animal Eye Doctors for Dr. Christi Warren DVM, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Located at 9180 Estero Park Commons, the project entailed construction of a veterinary ophthalmologic practice which includes four exam rooms, pharmacy, opratory, cath room and associated services. 

This facility serves as the new location for Animal Eye Doctors, previously located at 9220 Estero Park Commons, Suite 1. 

“The project was completed ahead of schedule, which is of tax benefit to me and results in cost savings overall.  Of equal importance, the construction and craftsmanship is high quality and the work meticulous,” said Dr. Warren.

Stevens Construction Superintendents Earn Healthcare Construction Certification

Todd WelleMike Bussiere and Todd Welle, superintendents for Stevens Construction Inc., have earned their Healthcare Construction Certificate (HCC) from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association

The HCC program involves completing coursework and programs directly related to construction and renovation projects within the healthcare environment. Program curriculum includes risk management assessment, quality control, medical gas systems, life-safety code, infectious control planning and implementation. The certification demonstrates their understanding and knowledge of the latest compliance issues in healthcare construction and the expectations of owners, staff and patients. 

Bussiere joined Stevens Construction in 2005 and has completed more than 100,000 SF of healthcare construction, including Eye Specialists Cornea and Laser Center, a 10,580 SF ambulatory surgery center in Fort Myers.

Stevens Construction Inc. has completed construction on Eye Specialists Cornea and Laser Center, the surgical facility for Dr. Mark Gorovoy, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Located at 12453 South Cleveland Ave., construction entailed the addition of 4,600-square-feet to an existing two-story facility to total a 10,580-square-feet ambulatory surgery center at completion. The center includes two operating rooms, recovery rooms, step-down recovery rooms, consultation areas, a patient lounge and administrative offices.

Eye Specialists Cornea and Laser Center is an Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) licensed facility, which ensures regulatory compliance for healthcare facilities throughout Florida.
