BBQ, Bands & Brew fundraiser raises $116,000 to benefit Lee BIA Builders Care

Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) raised a record total of $116,000 during the seventh annual BBQ, Bands & Brew event held Sunday, April 3 at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts. Presented by All Star Equipment Rentals and Sales, the fundraiser attracted more than 7,500 guests, featuring live music, local barbecue restaurants, vendors, a barbecue competition, the fourth annual Poker Run, a cornhole tournament and activities for children. Funds raised from the event benefited Builders Care, which provides emergency repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged residents in Lee County.

“With the help of about 175 volunteers, a dedicated board of directors and our hardworking staff, we produced another amazing evenPhoto 7t to benefit Builders Care, achieving a 38 percent increase in funds raised over last year’s event,” said Christi Pritchett Sarlo, executive director of Builders Care. “We thank the local bands, vendors, sponsors, fantastic weather and phenomenal Southwest Florida community for making this day such a success.”

Live music was performed throughout the festivities by Soapy Tuna, Rocker, Deb & the Dynamics and The Alter Ego Band of Fort Myers, and nine barbecue vendors and Artisan Gelato by Norman Love provided delicious food for guests to enjoy. A team of celebrity judges voted BurgerQue as winner of Best BBQ in Town. Other winners included Best Side Dish by Famous Dave’s, Best Ribs by MOFO’s, Best Chicken by Sweetwater Wings & Ribs,Photo 2 Best Pork by BurgerQue, Best Presentation by Famous Dave’s, and for the seventh year straight, the People’s Choice Award went to Jonesez BBQ.

Stevens Construction completes Unity of Fort Myers

Stevens Construction has completed construction of a new addition to the campus of Unity of Fort Myers, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Stevens Construction added a 7,060-square-foot building, which houses a 400-seat sanctuary, a dais, bridal suite, restrooms and lobby. Construction occurred while the church remained in operation.

The construction team included project manager, Mark Battaglia; superintendent, Brian Oliver, and project administrator, April Kelley. The design services were provided by Christopher J. Lee Architects, Inc.

Builders Care presents BBQ, Bands and Brew fundraiser April 3

Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) is hosting the seventh annual BBQ, Bands and Brew on SuPhoto 2nday, April 3 from 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. All Star Equipment Rentals and Sales is this year’s title sponsor. The fundraiser is open to the public and will feature live music from Soapy Tuna, Rocker, Deb & the Dynamics and The Alter Ego Band of Fort Myers, along with several local barbecue restaurants, vendors, BBQ competition to name the Best BBQ in town and activities for kids. Admission is $10 per person. Children ages 12 and under are free, and free parking is available.

Also part of the event is the fourth annual Poker Run that begins at 9 a.m. at Six Bends Harley-Davidson and includes a ride around Fort Myers before ending at BBQ, Bands & Brew at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts. Registration is $25 and $10 for passengers, and includes admission to the event. Best hand wins $500 and Harley-Davidson gear.

New to this yeaPhoto 8r’s event is a cornhole tournament, which will begin with registration from 11 a.m. to noon, with the tournament commencing at noon. The tournament is open to the public, double-elimination format and participants must bring a partner to play. The cost is $20 per two-person team, and prizes include $400 for first place and $100 for second place.

Stevens Construction Inc. adds project manager

Ben PerryStevens Construction has expanded its Tampa team with the addition of project manager, Ben Perry, announced Troy Hernly, vice president of central Florida.

Perry joins the company with eight years of experience, completing more than $32 million in health care construction throughout Florida. Stevens Construction has completed construction of Jason’s Deli at Gulf Coast Landings, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

 

Stevens Construction completed construction of a free-standing 5,330-square-foot Jason’s Deli restaurant which features a dining room, to-go area, kitchen and food preparatory station, walk-in cooler and freezer, beverage station, office, men’s and women’s restrooms and 653-square-foot covered pat
io for outdoor dining. Jason’s Deli also features a drive-thru.

Stevens Construction completes Eye Centers of Florida offices

Stevens Construction recently completed construction of two Eye Centers of Florida locations to serve Cape Coral and North Fort Myers, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Stevens Construction renovated an existing office resulting in a 3,896-square-foot medical office, located at 2301 Del Prado Blvd., Suite 820 in Cape Coral. Construction included a new lobby, reception, alcove and pre-testing room. The new facility serves as the Cape Coral office for Tan-Long Pham, M.S. O.D. and David C. Brown, M.D. FACS.

In September, Stevens Construction completed a build-out for a North Fort Myers office of Eye Centers of Florida, located at 17966 N. Tamiami Trail, Suite 160. Featuring seven exam rooms, optical lab, diagnostics and a retail shop, this office will serve as the North Fort Myers location of Dr. David C. Brown’s Eye Centers of Florida.

The Stevens Construction team for the projects included Brian Oliver as superintendent, Mark Battaglia as project manager and April Kelley as project administrator. GMA Architects & Planners provided the architectural services.

Stevens Construction has completed four medical offices for Eye Centers of Florida.  The company completed the healthcare provider’s Port Charlotte and Naples locations in 2013.

Stevens Construction completes FineMark National Bank & Trust

Stevens Construction has completed construction of FineMark National Bank & Trust, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Located at 800 Laurel Oak Drive, the project included an 8,400-square-foot build-out, allowing the bank to further expand services to Naples residents. FineMark National Bank houses a community room, four conference rooms, lounges, reception, teller stations and a commercial kitchen.

FineMark National Bank features custom finishes such as travertine tile, wood flooring and mahogany wood wall panels, box beams, doors and cabinetry.

Construction occurred in two phases to allow operations to continue during the project.

The Stevens Construction team included project manager, Dan Adams; JJ Slaugh as superintendent, and Kathryn Gomez as project administrator. MHK Architecture & Planning was the architect of record.

This is the second project Stevens Construction has been awarded by FineMark National Bank. The company completed the Fort Myers operations center in 2013.
