Pure Florida presents Eco-Cruise to Picnic Island Saturday, May 14

Edison ExplorerPure Florida’s Fort Myers location will present an Eco-Cruise tour to Picnic Island on Saturday, May 14 from 8 – 11 a.m. The three-hour eco-adventure includes a narrated cruise along the Caloosahatchee River and a guided tour of Picnic Island, a natural, uninhabited island located between Sanibel and Pine Island.

During the Eco-Cruise to Picnic Island excursion, guests will have the opportunity to bask in the sunshine and experience the natural beauty of Southwest Florida. While discovering the island, explorers can enjoy leisurely walking amidst black and white mangroves, playing in sand, shelling and fishing. Visitors will also have the opportunity to observe wildlife native to the Caloosahatchee River and Picnic Island. While Pure Florida cannot guarantee animal sightings in the wild, potential wildlife sightings include dolphins, eagles, manatee, native birds and more.

Eco-Cruise tours are guided by Coast Guard-certified captains and master naturalists and highlight the history of the Caloosahatchee River and the accomplishments of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford during their time spent at the nearby Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers. Registration for the tour is $44 per person, and the M/V Edison Explorer departs from The Marina at Edison Ford, located at 2360 W. First St. in Fort Myers.

Pure Florida cruises celebrate mothers May 7-8

Pure Florida CruisePure Florida is celebrating mothers May 7-8, offering free cruises for moms when accompanied by paid adult or child admission. The Mother’s Day weekend cruises will set sail from Pure Florida’s Naples and Fort Myers locations at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with sunset cruises departing one hour before sunset. Pure Florida’s Mother’s Day cruises are available for $35 per passenger during the day and $37.50 for the sunset cruise at its Naples location, and $32 per passenger at its Fort Myers location.

Narration on local history, wildlife and ecology is provided by Coast Guard-certified captains, also master naturalists. Passengers cruising from Pure Florida’s Naples location will sail the Gordon River aboard the M/V Double Sunshine, and guests visiting Pure Florida’s Fort Myers location will cruise the Caloosahatchee River aboard the M/V Edison Explorer. Aboard the vessels, guests are invited to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Southwest Florida and observe the wildlife native to the region. Pure Florida to offer New Year’s Eve cruises Dec. 31

Pure Florida will ring in the New Year with celebratory cruises on Dec. 31, sailing from its Naples location from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Fort Myers location from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Guests cruising from Naples will have the opportunity to indulge in appetizers and drinks while watching the fireworks show, aPhoto 2 (1)nd passengers in Fort Myers can enjoy a cruise at sunset with a complimentary drink. Departing from Pure Florida’s Naples location, passengers can enjoy a lively celebration spanning three hours aboard the M/V Double Sunshine.
