Wells joins the company with more than 20 years of construction experience with a specialty in senior care construction.  Prior to joining Stevens Construction, Wells served as senior superintendent for construction management firm where he completed more than $400 million in commercial construction, including the 400,000-square-foot Terraces at Bonita Springs, a SantaFe Senior Living Community.

 

Wells will manage the onsite field supervision of commercial and health care projects, specifically handling inspections, safety meetings, daily job reports, cost reports and all tasks that are instrumental to the success of the project.

Stevens Construction has completed construction of a new addition to the campus of Unity of Fort Myers, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Stevens Construction added a 7,060-square-foot building, which houses a 400-seat sanctuary, a dais, bridal suite, restrooms and lobby. Construction occurred while the church remained in operation.

The construction team included project manager, Mark Battaglia; superintendent, Brian Oliver, and project administrator, April Kelley. The design services were provided by Christopher J. Lee Architects, Inc.

Discovery Senior Living began its expansion of Discovery Village At The Forum with a groundbreaking ceremony on Jan. 21 for its new, state-of-the-art independent-living community.

“The Discovery Village At The Forum independent-living community will offer adults the opportunity to stay active and remain independent as they age, while enjoying the resort-style luxuries that are offered by Discovery Senior Living communities,” said Thomas J. Mike Brooks joins Stevens Construction Inc.

Mike Brooks has joined Stevens Construction as project manager, announced Mark Stevens, company president.

Brooks will have overall responsibility for the management and execution of health care and commercial projects during all phases of design and construction, ensuring projects maintain budget and schedule.  Brooks will also work closely with the design team to provide value engineering suggestions, constructability analysis, as well as negotiate and award vendor contracts, conduct owner/subcontractor meetings and monitor the construction team.

Brooks brings eight years of construction experience, providing pre-construction services on $300 million in completed commercial projects throughout Florida.

A LEED Accredited Professional and licensed general contractor, Brooks earned his bachelor’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida.

Lee BIA Builders Care, the nonprofit arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), will host its fifth annual building product garage sale to raise funds to help local homeowners in need. The sale will take place Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Cape Coral Plumbing, located at 5812 Enterprise Parkway in the Billy Creek Commerce Center off Luckett Rd., just west of I-75. Admission is free, but a $5 donation is suggested per adult. Beverages and snacks will be available.
